Diageo is spending £400,000 to boost the profile of its Windhoek lager this autumn.

Diageo is spending £400,000 in September and October to boost the profile of its Windhoek lager, which it launched into the UK in May.

The investment in cinema and print advertising as well as PR activities and sponsorship of the Adventure Film Festival 2010, will "maintain the momentum and excitement around the brand," said Richard Barlow, marketing manager for packaged beer.

The company is aiming to create the first big African beer brand in the UK world beer market, which is growing 7.3% in value above the total beer category.

"Over the coming months we will continue to drive distribution to ensure Windhoek is available in the right pubs and bars," said Barlow.
