Drinks giant Diageo is to cut 107 jobs in Ireland as part of a £100m cost cutting plan.

The majority of the jobs under review are in Dublin with 12 in Northern Ireland. The jobs will be cut from sales and marketing, human resources and finance.

It hopes that many of the redundancies will be through a voluntary programme over the next three months.

Diageo Ireland chairman Brian Duffy said: "Today's announcement to reduce employment was extremely hard to make and follows months of careful analysis and consideration. The decisions taken today are the necessary steps to maintain a sustainable competitive business in Ireland."
