Bar operator Ultimate Leisure has opened its first London venue.

The Prohibition bar and grill at No 1, Bishopsgate in the City has opened its doors following an eight week fit-out costing more than £1.5m.

With 7,000 square feet of customer area the venue is Prohibition's fifth site, with a sixth, in Bristol, planned for next year.

Mark Jones, chairman of Ultimate Leisure, said the London opening was "the next logical step" in the group's strategy of growing its presence in major towns and cities.

"We are continuing to seek new site opportunities for the Prohibition brand," he added.
