Greene King is to slim down the size of its board following its decision to relieve the managing director's of its Brewing Company and Local Pubs divisions of their boardroom duties.

From April 30 Justin Adams and Jonathan Lawson of the Brewing Company and Local Pubs division's respectively will have relinquished their board director positions in a move, that the company stated, was designed to "achieve parity" in the management structure.

Following the re-jig none of the five divisional managing directors will have a seat on the board. The inconsistency among the managing directors was a result of the more recently appointed not joining the board.

The new board structure will comprise only two executive directors - Rooney Anand, chief executive, and Ian Bull, finance director - along with five non-executive directors.
