Kornicis, the London-based bar and restaurant group, is to open a new-look version of its Jamie’s Wine Bar & Restaurant brand at its first West End location this month, and plans to acquire another five sites this year.

Kornicis, which is backed by private equity group NBGI, has acquired La Tasca in St Martin’s Lane in Covent Garden, taking Jamie’s to 11 sites in the capital.

Chief executive Nick Tamblyn said it would have a “slight West End tweak”. “It will also be the first of a redesigned Jamie’s. We are moving the concept to something more design-led.”

He said it will have a “more contemporary feel”, with changes in the decor, furniture and lighting. Tamblyn said the basic elements of Jamie’s would remain at the site, which is set to open on 27 February.

He said the concept would form the basis of other openings for Jamie’s, and also for a rolling programme of refurbs at existing outlets.
Tamblyn said: “I think we would expect to do five sites this year.”
