Regent Inns has today announced it is no longer in discussions with a potential suitor

Following an approach at the end of April this year Regent Inns had indicated to the market that it was in takeover talks.

Observers suggested a raft of names who might be potentially interested in the bar group, including Alchemy Partners, which owns the Tattershall Castle Group, R20 and Electra.

However, today Regent said that "discussions in relation to this approach have now terminated".

The group added that it was, "confident of the on-going prospects for Walkabout and Jongleurs and continues to seek value-enhancing consolidation opportunities".

A trading update in the form of a pre-close statement will be issued next month, the group added.

Regent chairman Bob Ivell was unavailable for comment.
