SAB Miller is reported be considering entering the battle for Scottish & Newcastle (S&N), according to several Sunday newspapers.

The Scotsman reports that the FTSE 100 brewer, which brews Miller lager, is said to be receiving informal advice from financial services firms Morgan Stanley and Dresdner Kleinwort on the situation.

S&N has already rejected a takeover bid from Carlsberg and Heineken. Reports suggest that it may now be a potential target for US brewers SAB Miller or Anheuser-Busch.
