Administrators to London & Edinburgh Swallow Group (L&ES) have made sixty of the group's head office staff redundant.

The pub and hotels group, which went into administration last week, is currently being run by accountants Ernst & Young who confirmed the job losses at L&ES's Maidstone headquarters.

One member of staff at the Maidstone office said there were around 20 people left in the building "and the rest are hanging on by their fingertips, waiting to hear what the administrators have in store".

The news of the job losses comes after Flodrive, the investment group owned by former L&ES backer Tony Khalastchi, acquired leases and fixtures and 240 of the group's hotels and pubs.

Staff at one of these sites have said they have no idea if they will be paid, despite their jobs being technically secured by the deal.
