Urbium, operator of a clutch of style bars and the Tiger Tiger brand, has unveiled figures for the four-week Christmas trading period.

Like-for-like sales increased by 3.4 per cent from last year.

Total net sales for the four week trading period to December 31 rose by 37 per cent to £9.8m.

Tiger Tiger, now operating across eight sites, saw comparible sales rise 11.7 per cent.

The company said its 16 West End sites generated significant sales from corporate events and organised parties during December.

Urbium's London sites include the celebrity hang-outs Sugar Reef and Red Cube.

The company said the last month of 2002 "rounds off a very satisfactory second half for Urbium." Total bar nightclub sales for the six months were up 32 per cent to £34.8m and like-for-like sales increased by one per cent.

The company recently announced the roll-out of a second brand Digress, a smaller-scale sister to Tiger Tiger, with the launch of a second site in London's financial district.
