Vegans may not yet have the collective purchasing power that gluten-free customers now wield in the pub sector, but demand for beers totally devoid of animal products is steadily growing.

This year has already seen Scottish brewer BrewDog register 23 of its beers officially vegan-friendly , JD Wetherspoon praised by PETA for its range of vegan dishes and the opening of a number of 100% vegan pubs  - although it didn't work out so well for all of them.

So, to mark World Vegan Day 2016, which takes place on 1 November, The Morning Advertiser has compiled a selection of some of the top vegan beers out there:

Little Valley Vegan LVB Beer

1. Little Valley Brewery LVB X

Tasting notes: an organic barley wine that is rich, bold and dark, with hints of raisin and a strong malty backbone (10% ABV).

Freedom Brewery Organic Helles Lager

2. Freedom Brewery Organic Helles Lager
