Scottish brewer and operator BrewDog has announced plans for its ‘beer schools’ across its UK bar estate.

The ninety minute ‘school’ will be hosted by Cicerone-trained BrewDog bar staff and includes tastings of six different craft beers across a range of styles.

It includes a focus on developing tasting notes and also food and beer matching with meat and cheese provided on the course.

There are three different levels of school:

‘standard’ (£20 per person) which includes brewing processes and ingredients, principles of beer tasting and beer and food pairing;

‘advanced’ (£24pp) covers a history of different beer styles, sensory analysis, off-flavour detection and emphasis on barrel-aged beers and sours;

And an ‘American’ option (£24pp) focusing on the history, use of American hops and styles such as Double IPA and Imperial Stout.

A blog posted on the BrewDog website also said the school will feature a quiz at the end to underline learning, and after which a certificate will be given.

It said: “if you fancy the idea of a guided walk through the wonders of beer, in a relaxed environment with plenty of beers to enjoy along the way, you can book a Beer School at any of our UK Bars right now, by getting in touch with them on social media or in person at the bar!”
