Carlsberg has confirmed its two recently revealed alcohol-free beers under the San Miguel brand will be rolled out to pubs and bars later this year.

San Miguel 0.0% is available from this month via Tesco, Asda and convenience stores, while San Miguel 0.0% Limon will appear in March in Asda and convenience stores.

The brewer has not given any further details on when the brews will be made available in the on-trade.

“As a leading beer and beverage company in the UK, we constantly monitor consumer demand and respond to current trends with innovations in our portfolio,” said director of brand and insight, David Scott.

“The insight is showing there is consumer desire for great-tasting 0.0% beers, providing that same refreshing lager taste, for occasions when alcohol may not be a suitable choice.

Scott said the industry could expect more new launches around alcohol free from Carlsberg during the year, as “research suggests that alcohol free beers will play an important role in attracting different demographics into the beer category in the future.”

Last week Carlsberg announced it was to partner with an additional eight breweries to extend its Tapster’s Cask Ale range.
