A gluten-free range of beers was crowned the winner at The Bar & Pub Show’s inaugural 2016 Great New Idea award.

Green’s lifted the accolade, which celebrates new ideas, products, services or initiatives within the industry, for its India Pale Ale, Dry Hopped Lager and Discovery Amber selection (RRP: £2.17/330ml bottle serving).

The brand fought off competition from oven maker Alfa Pro and Twisted Halo, a low-calorie blend of coconut water and premium vodka.

“I was impressed with Green’s delicious range of gluten-free beers and loved that they are really opening beer up to a wider range of audience to enjoy – a massive well done to David Ware and his team on winning,” said Richard Fox, ambassador for Love Food, Hate Waste, who presented the award.

Green’s managing director David Ware added: “At Green’s we’re passionate about innovating and very proud of the beers we produce so it’s an honour to be recognised as having best new idea in the industry – especially considering we’re the first brand to ever receive this new award.

“Our award-winning range of beers are brewed with ancient grains, including sorghum, millet, buckwheat and brown rice husks, making them naturally gluten free. By pairing an innovative alchemy of ingredients with true beer craftsmanship, we’re able to create something that’s as enjoyable to drink as it is complex to brew, and hope that this award win will inspire like-minded beer drinkers to rediscover beer with Green’s.”
