Sharp’s brewery has launched golden ‘transatlantic’ pale ale Two Tides in the UK as part of a collaboration with its Canadian sister brewery Granville Island Brewing Co.

This comes as part of a recipe swap between the two brewers, which will see Sharp’s brew and sell Two Tides (4.6% ABV) in the UK while Granville Island takes Sharp’s Atlantic to the Canadian market.

Granville Island head brewer Kevin Emms said: “This collaboration project with Sharp’s is definitely the most exciting collaboration I’ve been involved with."

“I know there is real excitement among UK beer drinkers for North American-styled craft beers and, equally, there is a thirst in North America for truly authentic British ales.

“By spending time together, and sharing recipes and ideas, this project allows both of us to share something unique and awesome with our customers.”

Two Tides is available for on-trade customers from today (21 February). Sharp’s describes the beer as combining “the well-hopped flavour of a traditional IPA” with lower alcohol levels to increase its accessibility.

Sharp’s head brewer Andrew Madden added: “Myself and Kevin are on the same page when it comes to brewing – we both have an affinity with the pale ale style and particularly enjoy experimenting with it.”

Sharp’s will donate 5p from the sale of every pint of Two Tides to the Blue Flag initiative, a charity that works to help preserve and protect beaches in its native Cornwall.
