The company behind 1980s kid’s favourite, Um Bongo, is preparing to revive the juice drink following its starring role in Heston Blumenthal’s Channel 4 show, Heston’s Fantastical Food, on Tuesday night (11 December).

The chef made his own version of the drink, adding Cava to make it more appealing to adults, as part of a giant lunchbox.

The Gerber Juice Company, which licences the brand from American firm Libby’s, said it has two new flavours in the pipeline for next year, Orange and Tropical. It will also be launching one litre packs in addition to the current 200ml format.

“We are delighted we were able to help Heston to create an enormous version of Um Bongo and we feel sure its appearance on the show and the new flavours will spark a renewed interest in the brand,” said James Logan, commercial director.
