Appleton

Appleton rebrand

J. Wray & Nephew Limited has announced the modernisation of its Appleton Estate Jamaican Rum brands.

The new branding will be rolled out across in the UK in October 2015, with the Appleton Estate V/X becoming Appleton Estate Signature Blend, Appleton Estate 8 year old will become Appleton Estate Reserve Blend and Appleton Estate 12 Year Old has been renamed Appleton Estate Rare Blend aged 12 Years. 

There will also be a bartender competition with a prize of a trip to Jamaica, with further details released in September.

Enotria buys up Coe Vintners

The wine distribution company Enotria has announced the acquisition of Coe Vintners.

Family owned Coe Vintners, who distribute wine and spirits, will continue to operate separately during the transition period and both companies recommend customers to continue to work with their existing contacts.

Enotria has said that they intend to grow strategically and sustainably and that the acquisition signals “a strong statement of intent for the business.” The move is said to be a critical component of the strategy to create a “winning portfolio”.

Langleys

Langleys No. 8 awarded at Great Taste Awards

Langley’s No.8 was awarded a Three-Stargold at the Great Taste Awards. 

Co-founder of the brand, Mark Dawkins said: “we were delighted to receive the Three-Star gold, we worked for two years before release on producing the best tasting gin we possibly could, bringing home the top prize judged solely based on taste means all that time was worth it.”

The Great Taste Awards are judged by 400 judges, including specially trained food writers over 49 judging days from March through to early July. The judges, from all corners of the food world, blind-taste in teams of 4 or 5 to ensure a balance of expertise, age and gender.

Peatlands

New expression from anCnoc

anCnoc has introduced a brand new regional exclusive to its Peaty Collection named Peatlands. The limited edition will launch August 7 2015 with 6,600 bottles available.

Peatlands is aged for 10 years in ex bourbon American oak barrels and joins Tushkar, Rutter, Flaughter and Cutter in the Peaty collection.

The whisky is amber in colour, and the flavour is described as beginning with sweet citrus notes, underpinned by spicy cloves and nutmeg on the nose. To taste, the Peatlands offers sticky and creamy toffee richness, embodied by a lasting wave of a warm and woody smokiness.

Tia

Bunga Bunga wins Tia Takeover

July 2015 saw the UK’s first Tia Maria Takeover, in which 12 bars nationwide were challenged to pull off the ultimate Tia Maria Takeover.

Tia Maria ice cream in addition to Tia Jamaican Me Crazy, Espresso Martinis and Maria Sangrienta cocktails were all served by bars including Riverbank Nottingham, Bunga Bunga London and Circo Liverpool.

Bunga Bunga, London won the battle of the bars and was rewarded by a trip to Ibiza.
