A Lake District pub's Harry Potter inspired 'Butterbeer cocktail' has delivered significant returns for the business.

Bowness-on-Windermere venue, the Village Inn Bar & Grill created the cocktail using a combination of butterscotch sauce, butter, vodka, lemonade and cream.

The end result was selling more of this cocktail than any of its other cocktail offer since the movie-based drink has been launched.

Owner of the venue, Ian Dutton said: “We’re delighted with the reaction to our new butterbeer cocktail and were keen to create a really unusual taste.”

“We’re all Harry Potter fans – who isn’t?!  The timing was also appropriate given the recent death of Alan Rickman – one of our favourite characters - so it’s also a nod to him.”

The venue has also just launched new ‘skinny champagne’.

Dutton is also opening a new bar/restaurant in March in Windermere called ‘The Pig’, with a menu specialising in pork dishes.
