A new pink grapefruit vodka for Ciroc, French vodka maker Sauvelle designs a new bottle and premium craft distiller Wild Knight lands a distribution deal. That's what's going on in vodka this week.

Grapefruit variant for Ciroc vodka

A new Pink Grapefruit variant has been added to the Cîroc brand of French grape vodka by Diageo Reserve, making it the seventh addition to the portfolio.

Five-times distilled vodka is used to create Cîroc and the new citrus-flavoured libation has been developed to showcase the real ex-tracts from the peel and oil of pink grapefruit.

Three recommended serves have been developed by Diageo and include Cîroc Sea Breeze; Cîroc Pink Grapefruit and Sage Smash; and Cîroc Tropic.

Head of Diageo Reserve GB Nick Temperley, said: “Cîroc Pink Grapefruit is a fan-tastic summer spirit and we’re confident it will perform well in the on- and off-trade as it lends itself so well to simple long drinks as well as more complex serves.”

New bottle design for Sauvelle vodka

French vodka maker Sauvelle is set to launch new electro-luminescent magnum and jeroboam bottle designs on 26 May in a bid to showcase the consumer shift in drinking styles in pubs and bars.

The ‘La Nuit’ bottle design will still contain the craft ABV 41% vodka that’s distilled in the Charente region of Cognac.

It has been described as having a crisp, clean and fresh nose with subtle but indulgent signature notes of vanilla, almond and cherry blossom.

On the palate, drinkers can expect a smooth, creamy and rounded character with a lingering finish of vanilla.

Wild Knight lands distribution deal

Three months after launching, Norfolk-based Wild Knight Vodka has landed a distribution deal with independent wine and spirit merchant Hammonds.

The vodka, which is made using barley and local water, is already listed in high-end bars and restaurants across the UK, but is hoped to go further with the signing of this new deal.

Wild Knight has been created as a vodka that can be enjoyed neat on ice, like a fine whisky.

Matt Brown, co-founder of Wild Knight, said: "We want our brand to be available in the top-end bars and restaurants throughout the country, as well as high-end retailers."
