Drinks manufacturer and distributor Halewood International has added Liverpool Gin to its portfolio.

The independent UK drinks business has put a new senior team in place and is set to boost its business and expand its product reach and range in the UK and abroad, it said.

Halewood recently ac-quired a 50% stake in Pogues Irish Whiskey, after being appointed the distributor for the brand following its launch in July 2015.

The buyout of Liverpool Gin will give Halewood the ability to start distilling a wider range of premium spirits. Liverpool Gin was founded in 2012 and produces three premium products within the city at its Huyton-based site.

Its original gin, Valencian Orange and Rose variants — which are sold in 70cl bottles and have an ABV of 42% — are stocked in a range of outlets.

Founding gin director

Founding director Markey Hensby said: “This is a great opportunity to take the brand forward and strengthen its offering.”

Halewood chief executive Stewart Hainsworth said: “Acquiring Liverpool Gin enhances our spirits portfolio and complements our other premium brands such as Whitley Neil Gin and our Whiskey portfolio.

“Liverpool Gin has been hugely successful since its creation, and we will ensure the essence of the brand remains while expanding its reach to audiences throughout the UK and beyond.”
