Just Ditch PASS!

I just can't see why certain authorities are so insistent on accepting the PASS cards? Surely, the main priority is in ensuring all age-restricted products are well controlled, and if the people who must control this for the sake of their own licenses are saying that they will not accept PASS, why keep pushing it?

It would be much better use of government's time to shift their focus onto getting everyone to buy a passport; you know, that tried and tested form of ID that is accepted EVERYWHERE, by EVERONE, for ANY form of ID proof at ANYTIME?! There are two main arguments used time and again against this but their tiresome and pathetic:

1. Passports are too expensive for many - That's rubbish. If you can afford to be out drinking you can afford the £10/year that a passport costs! When you compare it's usability to the highly-restricted PASS card, it is infinitely better value-for-money.

2. Nobody wants to take such a valuable item as a passport on a night out. This is typical whitewash from somebody with an ulterior motive. If that were the case, our youth would be petrified to take out their wallets, credit cards, iphones, house keys, etc. whenever they planned to have a few drinks. When's the last time you saw anyone under 30 go for a night out without their iphone (at least 3 x more valuable than a passport and just as much hassle to replace)? It's utter nonsense.

One can only assume there is some other reason for this continuous pushing of PASS, and I bet if you dig deep enough it's related to somebody in authority earning cash from it becoming widespread.

If I'm ever legally forced to accept PASS, the first time I get somebody fraudulently using one (or using a fake), which will surely come once they're legally enforced, I'll be shouting it from high!
