Licensees have one day to speak out on licensing overhaul

There is just one day left for licensees to have their say on the Government's licensing overhaul plan.
Proposals in the licensing shake-up announced in July include the scrapping of the proximity rule for complaints over a licence, closure orders for troubled premises to be extended for seven days and a late-night levy to help pay for policing.
Licensees could also expect tougher restrictions on temporary event notices, increased licence fees and the inclusion of a public health objective under the Government proposals.
Speaking about the proposed changes to licensing, British Beer and Pub Association and chief executive Brigid Simmonds said: "New burdens of the sort proposed would be a big blow.
"The Government needs to think again on some of these proposals and we want to work with them on this."
The consultation on the overhaul plans ends tomorrow (8 September).

Licensees have one day to speak out on licensing overhaul

That's all very well but I would prefer you answered such a simple question. Then just perhaps the growing number of FP dissenters may just slow down.

Licensees have one day to speak out on licensing overhaul

I'm always happy to be open about relevant issues surrounding our industry. That is after all the key to any successful campaign.

If you had bothered to read the front page of our website you would have seen this:

'Fair Pint is the voice of tied tenants calling for an end to the exploitation of publicans through the tie'.

As I've already pointed out in an earlier post, err, no mention of licensing!

I wonder how one represents hysterical laughter on this site. So licensing reform and increased costs won't be an issue affecting the bottom line of these already hard pressed lessees that FP want to 'rescue' from the Pubco's.

Well that's clear then. So loss of revenue from the smoking ban doesn't matter, loss of revenue due to supermarket cheap products doesn't matter, now increased costs do not matter either.

I did Robert; you just chose to ignore it. Typical I suppose.

I am open to apologise Stephen please direct me to where you answered.

Stephen, as I have already stated if you have a problem with another poster why do you drag me into it?Your assessment of Bobs posts or behaviour is just that your assessment. As to your assertion that you only respond to personal attacks this unfortunately is not borne out by your history. I haven't attacked you merely asked a very pertinent question to the topic.

With respect Stephen your feeling as to what another poster should or shouldn't do are of no consequence as we are all entitled to our opinions but not agreement to those opinions. That agreement has to be won by intelligent respectful debate and nurturing of concensus.

Stephen I always have been and still am a reasonable person and as such am able to examine both sides of a topic without bias.

As to the the desire of your colleagues to partake of debate that again I am afraid, is not supported by historical fact. I have never abused or made personalised attack on anyone but I am subjected to same by members of yours and other organisations who attack anyone who does not hold the same viewpoint as them. This appears more a desire to silence any dissent rather than the desire you proffer to debate points raised.

Perhaps if they adopted a more reasonable attitude progress could be made to seeking solutions rather than drawing battle lines.

Michael it is quite apparent that you have not read any of the post on this topic with regard to myself.

Stephen I sincerely hope for fair pint's sake that you don't claim the likes of Michael Rounthwaite as one of yours.

Bob - you do seem to be an ignorant man. As I've said before, noone can have an issue with someone who deals in the truth and from an informed perspective no matter how its put. Lots of liars hide behind manners.

Your approach is one of lashing out, ignorantly, against those constructively creating positive change in our much loved sector. Over many years of inane ranting on this forum, you seem to have achieved nothing at all. Its nobody else's fault that this should be the case. Its yours. You may be disappointed that this is the case but its not everyone else's problem.

Has Fair Pint made a formal submission on licensing? No, we haven't. Why? Because other better placed members of IPC have done do. In 1999, with a few others - The Rock Garden Group, Glendola Leisure, Urbium plc (now Novus,St Christophers Inns, other companies and also the ALMR - I formed a group called the Westminster Licensees Association. That group represented Westminster licensees very successfully and continues to this day. The secretary is Kate Nichols. She advises ALMR and others and continues to represent WLA. She's the secretary of IPC. I don't know of anyone in the UK pub sector as respected and able in relation to the formulation of consultation responses such as that to which you refer now on licensing. Kate has completed a response on behalf of ALMR. I'm a member of ALMR. ALMR is core partner in IPC. I'm content with that.

Sometimes, Bob, on these matters, less is more and a detailed response from a respected advocate such as Kate is as good as you're going to get.

Why don't you wake up and get out of the house and do something for a change. You're approach is very boring.
