Punch to trial free-of-tie prices

Punch Taverns is to trial new leases in September that offer licensees free-of-tie prices and a free-of-tie option on cask ale produced by smaller brewers who brew 36,662 barrels or less.
The company, which is to launch the agreements as part of its new Punch Buying Club, will include the options in longer leases of 10 years or more as part of a package to attract entrepreneurial li-censees and ensure they retain the rewards of out-performance.
Punch will offer licensees a range of incentives to take the longer lease. There will be no rent review during the 10-year term of the lease (although Retail Price Index increases apply). Licensees can opt to earn

Punch to trial free-of-tie prices

Couldn't agree more tony. Free of tie my ****. what is the MA doing, this headline is factually incorrect.

Punch to trial free-of-tie prices

Cutting through all the anti tie opinion on this site and looking at this objectivly what is being built here by Punch is intersting and appealing.

1.The levels of returning pubs are reducing in this estate
2.They are appearing to change their model and that should be applauded
3.They are addressing some of the previous ills and misdemeanours
4.They are obviously starting to retain and attract new tenants into there business
5.They are looking at developing the historic agrements that have ruled this industry for years
6. They have to make a profit and are not going to go from left of centre to right of centre so please everybody wake up and recognise that you aint going to get something for nothing.
7.They are being very frank and upfront now with there advertising of sites and what sort of return you can generate
8. They also recognise that there needs to be further pub closures - beer market is in double digit decline, this is not down to pub co pricing this is down to national economics and consumers wanting VFM, you can only cut a cake so many ways and realists in this industry need to accept that unfortunatley more need to close before stabilty ensues

I applaud Punch for changing there model , more needs to come, this will get noticed by government as movement and more will follow
Ultimatley Punch are offering the opportunity to earn a living in a fair way by taking on one of their sites and introducing a suite of options to best suit your requirements.
Soon there will be a new breed of liscensee in the industry that will 'out shout' the negative tirade and reinvigorate the beleagured pub trade.
There will be more challenges ahead but and more neagativity but recognise this is a step in the right direction.

Would punch be doing anything without the "negative tirade"?
Would any of them? Some of them still haven't..

You are correct in that it is certainly a step in the right direction, a baby step maybe, but as you say no-one can really expect immediate change that results in the destruction of the company doing the changing.

Personally I don't see the problem with any of these companies charging a fair rent for the building, without a tie for products - its not as if they give any help with branding ala a franchise model like subway/ burger king/macdonalds/AN Other franchise.

I would continue, but dinner calls..

Tony you only missed one small thing of course, here's the options now this is what we want for A) offering them and B) making it retrospective.
