Kate Hoey, Labour MP for Vauxhall, has voiced her support for the Fair Pint campaign and promised to write to Peter Mandelson to urge a Competition Commission investigation into the beer tie.
Hoey, former Sports Minister, met with Steve Slatter, her constituent and an Enterprise Inns lessee from Clapham, to talk over issues at his pub the Coach & Horses as a follow up to Fair Pint's lobby day.
In an hour long meeting with Slatter at Westminster, Hoey said she would also raise questions in Parliament, speak to MPs who had tabled Early Day Motions on the subject and "see what we can do to raise this as an issue and speed up the process of trying to get some reaction from Government to the Committee report".
Hoey also plans to get in contact with other licensees in her constituency, which takes in Waterloo, Kennington, Clapham North, Stockwell and Brixton, to see how she can help.
