The Association of Licensed Multiple Retailers (ALMR) has advised operators selling processed beef products to contact their suppliers over horsemeat contamination.

The trade association has advised its members who use processed beef products to ask their suppliers where they source their beef from and whether they have audited their supply chain.

The warning follows news that horsemeat was found in Findus beef lasagne products as well as an earlier case of Tesco value burgers.

The Food Standards Agency is asking all major food suppliers to test processed beef products.
