Industry bosses will debate the future of the pub industry as part of a conference and boat party celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Association of Licensed Multiple Retailers (ALMR).

JD Wetherspoon’s Tim Martin, Bob Ivell of Mitchells & Butlers and Ian Payne of Stonegate Pub Company will lead the debate at the event on May 3 which will be chaired by Sky News’ political editor Adam Boulton.

The ALMR-hosted event, at Millbank Media Centre, central London, will also hear from suppliers – including Iain Holden of Sky Business and Roger Whiteside of Punch Taverns – explaining what they are doing to support multiple licensees.

The event will kick-off with a lunch at noon before a dinner by Jamie Oliver’s latest venture, an ALMR awards ceremony and party aboard the Silver Sturgeon.

Nick Bish, ALMR chief executive, said: “This fantastic event will mark what is a watershed year for the ALMR – 20 years since the Association started.

“With such a heavyweight line-up of speakers, there’s guaranteed to be plenty of robust debate on this great industry of ours and what the future holds. The evening boat part also promises to be a memorable occasion. Our venue has a limited capacity, so I’d advise getting in quick for tickets.”

ALMR operator members are being offered an exclusive booking window until March 9, after which any remaining tickets will be available to non-members. To book a ticket for £149 (plus VAT) call 0208 579 2080, or email msteinhofel@almr.org.uk
