Liberation Group, the Jersey-based pub and drinks business, is setting its sights on new pub acquisitions on the Channel Islands.

It follows the company’s acquisition, subject to approval from competition authorities, of local wines and spirits distributor JJ Le Sueur for an undisclosed sum.

Liberation chief Mark Crowther said: “In terms of future acquisitions, we will look to buy good managed pubs and tenanted pubs.”
Crowther said the firm would “keep a watching eye” on opportunities away from the Channel Islands, but it currently has no plans to operate on the mainland.

In terms of pub acquisitions, he said Liberation has no number in mind, adding: “We are more interested in getting the right sites.” Liberation operates 68 predominately freehold pubs across the Channel Islands.
