The Maypole Inn at Thurloxton near Taunton, Somerset, is celebrating winning the BOC Sureserve competition to find the pub serving the best pint in Britain.

aypole Inn licensees Jo and James Lowe, won after members of the public were invited to vote for their favourite pub on a special BOC website. The competition was open to every pub and bar in the country.

BOC Sureserve, a supplier of dispense gas for beer, launched the campaign to promote awareness of what makes a perfect pint.

People voted for their favourite pub via www.wesureservegoodbeer.com.

James Lowe said: “We were voted for by our customers — so you can’t get better than that. We advertised the competition on our website and Facebook, and it just shows that people do support their local pub.

“This is proof that we are doing the right thing.”
