Pubs are being urged to support a campaign aimed at boosting domestic tourism this year by offering deals themed around the Olympics with at least 20.12% off.

Led by national tourist board VisitEngland, Holidays at Home are Great launches on 8 March and has a website set up for businesses to advertise their offers.

A spokeswoman suggested that pubs could be flexible, for example by offering a bottle of wine for £20.12 or a free night’s stay. VisitEngland “would love to hear from pubs, as they are such an iconic part of British culture”.

Chief executive James Berresford said: “This is an unprecedented opportunity to engage with new audiences, inspiring visits from overseas and at home. With so much going on throughout the country, there is no better place to be than at home this year.”

“We want to work with the industry to incentivise Brits, by offering thousands of reasons for them to choose this country first for a holiday.”
