A Kent pub has officially opened its refurbished live music facilities after winning a nationwide competition organised by PRS for Music.

Last year the Market Inn, at Faversham, saw off stiff competition to win the ‘Music Makeover’ competition run in partnership with the Musicians’ Union and the British Beer & Pub Association (BBPA).

The pub received £5,000 to spend on improving its live music facilities as well as expert advice on staging music events.

Keoghan Litchfield, head of the commercial team at PRS for Music, David Wilson, director of public affairs at the BBPA and songwriter Keith Beauvais, who has written for artists including Sting and Take That, went to see its new facilities in action, and presented licensee David Pott with a Music Makeover Gold Disc.

The BBPA’s Wilson said: “Pubs are vital in providing a platform for live music and local talent.

“It was great to see first-hand how the Music Makeover prize money has been invested in the Market Inn
to create a brilliant venue for local musicians, enhancing the pub’s offer and supporting the vibrant local music scene.”
