Lord Tebbit: dispute over

An altercation between Lord Tebbit and a pub licensee in Bury St Edmonds has been settled with the offer of a free pint.

The MP for Chingford accused customers of the Queen's Head of leaving empty drinks bottles outside his £1m Georgian home, which is 30 feet away.

Upon confronting the pub manager Joel Shepherd, it emerged that the bottles were not from the Queen's Head, but from a local supermarket.

Shepherd has invited Tebbit in for a free pint to settle their differences.

A spokesman for the pub claims the incident is in the past. "It was a very trivial matter that has been blown out of all proportion," he insisted.

Lord Tebbit has since written a note of apology to the staff at the Queen's Head.
