A pub made famous by Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares TV programme has been snapped up by a multiple operator.

Bowland Village Inns (BVI), run by Steven Greenhalf and Michael Weston-Cole, has agreed to take on the Punch Taverns lease at the Fenwick Arms in Claughton, Lancashire.

It is BVI's third pub — it also run the Plough at Galgate and the Punchbowl at Garstang. A fourth venue, the Talbot at Chipping, is also close to completion.

The pub has been closed since June when Brian and Elaine Rey left the pub to take up a Scottish & Newcastle Pub Enterprises five-year tenancy at the Ship in Aldborough, North Yorkshire.

Rey set up a Campaign for Real Gravy with Ramsay to try and get Britons to ditch gravy granules.

BVI has started work on a £300,000 refurbishment. "The development has created a lot of interest," said Weston-Cole.

The outlet will, however, face stiff competition from Nigel Haworth's Highwayman pub nearby.
