Licensees to have their say on cutting planning red tape

Businesses are being asked for their views on how the Government could make the planning process more efficient and accessible.

It is the next step in the Government’s Red Tape Challenge which focuses on reducing legislation and bureaucracy.

It said: “The Government is committed to ensuring that countryside and environmental protections continue to be safeguarded, and to decentralising power over planning to local councils, neighbourhoods and local residents.

“Alongside the current review of planning practice guidance, the Red Tape Challenge on Planning Administration will give everyone the opportunity to highlight areas where the system can be made simpler, clearer and easier for people to use and also let us know where regulation is essential.”
