Carrwood Catering has closed the doors at its Lord Binning pub in Kelsall, Cheshire, after six years running the site.

The closure of the Kelsall site means that Carrwood Catering now only operates three pubs: the Old Sessions House in Knutsford, Cheshire; the Old Blind School in Liverpool; and the Montgomery, Eastham Village, Merseyside.

The northern gastropub operator was formed last year from the ashes of New Moon. After New Moon went into administration and closed two venues, the remaining four sites were taken on by New Moon co-founder David Mooney and his wife Jane under the moniker Carrwood Catering.

Jane Mooney told the Chester Chronicle that they had opted to close the Lord Binning in Kelsall because “the rural country pub just wasn’t working anymore”.

Mooney, however, added that the pubco’s other three sites were performing well and that all staff from the closed pub would have the option of being rehoused at one of the company’s three other sites.

The Morning Advertiser has asked Carrwood Catering for a comment but has yet to receive a reply.
