Redemption Brewery to open first pub
Redemption Brewing Company, in partnership with Dominic Gibson’s west London-based Angelic Pub Company is opening its first site, the Angel of Bow, this Friday.
The pub, formerly known as Kitsons, in Bow, East London, will be the first of six Angelic Redemption sites under the joint venture.
Following a substantial £120,000 refurbishment of the previously derelict venue, the site will reopen with 20 beer and cider taps on offer.
A ‘natural step forward’
The owner of Redemption Brewing Company, Andy Moffat, said moving into pub operations was a “natural step forward” for the company’s development.
Redemption will be the main provider for cask ales at the site, while east London brewers, such as Hackney Brewery and Five Points Brewing Company, will be the providers of keg beer.
Derelict sites targeted
Dominic Gibson from the Angelic Pub Company said the pubco was hoping to take on additional derelict sites for development, with a target of six pubs up and running by mid-2022.
“We are not holding ourselves to taking on derelict sites in future, but it would be nice because it shows that pubs can be turned around and don't need to be converted for alternative use,” Gibson said.
Moffat added that the pubco was not going to restrict itself to particular areas of London, but said the sites it would look for would most likely be in north and east London.
