Robbie Williams's former pub home is up for sale with a guide price of £150,000, but could be turned into flats if no buyers step forward.

No potential buyers have stepped forward to take on the Red Lion in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, and it could therefore, be turned into flats, according to local newspaper The Sentinel.

The pub, which is now closed down, was taken over by Williams’ parents when he was a child and has become part of the Robbie Williams trail, which attracts thousands of fans every year, the local paper reported.

A ‘little bit of history would disappear’

Williams’ father Pete Conway told The Sentinel: “Because it is up for sale, I went back inside recently.

“It was quite strange being back inside, I even had a look around upstairs — I had not been up there since 1977. It brought back a lot of memories.”

He added: “It has got a lot of history. It was a great old pub.”

“It would be nice if the pub was restored because if it is turned into flats, it will be a little bit of history that has disappeared.”

The Red Lion is one of the town’s oldest pubs, according to the local newspaper, although its original Tudor-style building was torn down and rebuilt in 1963.

Potential new flats

Property estate agents Keates Hulme said the site had been partially refitted as a pub.

Keates Hulme director Chris Hulme told the newspaper the site was in a “prominent” location, with partially refurbished bar, new toilets and accommodation above the pub for future licensees or tenants.

Hulme said: “I would expect it either to be reopened as a pub or a bar, or converted into a house of multiple occupation. So likely buyers are either a bar operator or an investor who wants to develop it.”
