Over the course of 14 months, licensees of Enterprise Inns have recycled 312,735 litres of used cooking oil - the equivalent of more than half a million pints of beer.

This is thanks to a partnership between the pubco and wholesaler group Booker, which offer licensees £4 for every barrel (20-litres) of oil recycled. The used cooking oil is processed into bio diesel and used as part of the diesel in Booker’s distribution vehicles.

Enterprise sales and marketing director James Armitage said his company was delighted to work with Booker to offer its licensees benefits, including the oil recycling scheme.

He added: “To have recycled so much oil over the past 14 months and consequently helped reduce the carbon footprint of the industry, is a great achievement by our publicans. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Booker moving forward and supporting our publicans with a lot more initiatives to help their businesses.”

Sustainability

Booker sustainability manager Catherine Marston said they were proud of their sustainability policies. She added: “We were the first UK wholesaler to achieve a fourth consecutive Carbon Trust Standard and have twice achieved the Carbon Trust Waste Standard. We’re delighted to be working with Enterprise Inns to reduce its publicans’ carbon footprint through our oil recycling scheme.”

Benefits

The pubco has also worked closely with Booker to offer licensees an exclusive rebate system on non-drink and non-tobacco products purchased through Booker and Makro stores nationally.

The more licensees spend with the wholesalers, the more they get back per quarter. Booker also offers promotions and exclusive deals across the range of products for all Enterprise licensees.
