Enterprise Inns has announced the opening of its 100th managed pub as it continues to expand the division.

The Caerphilly Cwtch. in Caerphilly, south Wales, will sit within Enterprise’s Craft Union Pub Company, a wet-led managed division.

It will be Craft Union’s 70th pub and continues the expansion from its roots in the north of England, where it was first established last year.

Enterprise’s managed businesses also include pubs in its Bermondsey Pub Company division as well as in Enterprise Managed Investments, through which the pubco has established five partnered ventures.

The Caerphilly Cwtch, which comes from the Welsh for ‘hug’ or ‘snug’ and was previously known as The Irish Tymes, is in the final stages of a major refurbishment.

Craft Union’s wet led, sports, entertainment and value proposition will be developed as part of the refurbishment.

The new operator of the pub will be Sara Burton, sister of the previous publican who managed the Irish Tymes for eight years.

Burton said: “After eight fantastic years of running the Irish Tymes the staff and myself are looking forward to working in partnership with Craft Union to further cement our position within the community, providing a much needed community focused pub. Exciting times are ahead."

Simon Townsend, chief executive of Enterprise Inns, added: “Not only does today’s news demonstrate the excellent progress we are making against our strategy of growing our managed estate, but more significantly, it is the perfect example of our purpose to put great pubs back at the heart of local communities.

“I look forward to seeing the excellent work Sara and her team will do and wish them the very best of luck.”
