Pub chain JD Wetherspoon has invested £4.5m into a large site in Ramsgate, Kent including one of the biggest pubs in the nation.

The Grade II listed Royal Victoria Pavilion on the Kent seafront is set to be transformed by the pub giant next summer.

JDW owns the whole site, but is also looking to rent out parts of the site to other operators wishing to join the development, including restaurants, bars and cafes, but will consider non-food retailers as well.

The units from 1,000sq ft to 12,000sq ft are situated on the ground and first floors. Some have the potential for outside seating.

Location

The 20,000sq ft pavilion is close to the town’s main retail street and lies between Harbour Parade and the East Pier, less than a mile from Ramsgate railway station.

The town has a population of 68,000 within the 'primary retail catchment area', with more than 3.1m to the Thanet area annually.

Flexible

The new units will be available for tenants and the accommodation is flexible with the opportunity for the sites to be combined or sub-divided to tailor them to the operators' needs.

Earlier this year (May), JDW disposed of a 33 pubs, the majority of which were in London and the south .

In September, pubco Stonegate exchanged on a package of 10 JD Wetherspoon pubs .
