The line-up for this month's MA300, held on 24 September in Newcastle, has been revealed, with a raft of top speakers sharing their insights into the trade.

The event will kick off with Punch Taverns development director David Wigham discussing the market in the North East, followed by ALMR chief executive Kate Nicholls and licensing expert Richard Arnot on how operators can deal with the challenges posed by a late night levy.

Newcomers to the Newcastle scene, including Tiger Hornsby’s Rachael Frame, New World Trading Company’s Chris Hill and Mark Nigley from the Glasshouse, will share their experiences of the competitive Newcastle market and how they’ve fought to stand head and shoulders above the crowd.

After lunch, the attention will turn to all things food, with Allegra foodservice director Simon Stenning analysing key trends in the food sector for pubs and his tips for where the sector is heading.

Award-winning gastro pub owner and Masterchef Professionals finalist John Calton will carry out a tasting and discuss what locally sourced product can add to your menu. Having won almost every gong going, Oakman Inns CEO Peter Borg Neale will talk about his quest to add an award for excellent food to his trophy cupboard. Aubrey Allen, the Rolls Royce of catering butchers, will tell operators which cuts can make a real difference to the bottom line and Nestle will showcase the best ways of incorporating those cuts on to the menu.

Finally, Zonal and Flypay will look at the best ways of ensuring technology delivers the best customer dining experience, delivering excellence front and back of house. Trip Advisor’s Gwenael Merlin will advise on how to deal with TripAdvisor reviews and how best to respond to negative online comments.

The MA300 study tour will take in the brightest and best venues across the city including:

  • The Hop and Cleaver
  • The Red House
  • Popolo
  • The Bridge Tavern
  • The Market
