The New World Trading Company's new site in York is set to create up to 60 jobs as it opens its doors this November.

The pubco, which won Best Employer at the Publican Awards this year, held two recruitment days last month as it looked for staff to work in the Botanist-branded site. 

General manager Ciara Appleton McDaid has already been appointed. She will be joining from her previous role as designate general manager at the Botanist in Newcastle and has 11 years of hospitality experience.

City centre site

The 5,000sq ft venue is located on Stonegate in the city centre and will offer a range of botanical cocktails, beers, and a handpicked selection of gins.

The new venue follows existing sites in Manchester, Chester, Alderley Edge, Birmingham, Leeds, Newcastle, Marlow, Farnham, Knutsford as well as shortly another opening in Sheffield.

Bringing jobs

Alongside drinks, the food offer includes deli-inspired boards, and a rotisserie and barbecue-based menu.

Live music with evening gigs and Sunday afternoon sessions will also be provided.

New World Trading Company chief executive Chris Hill said: “We’re incredibly excited to bring the Botanist concept to York, as we feel the character and atmosphere of the city fits perfectly with the brand. It’s great to be able to bring so many jobs to the city and we’re delighted to already have Ciara on board as we begin the recruitment process."
