The Alchemist has said it will temporarily close two of its sites in June as part of a full refurbishment.

The operator’s venue in the Trinity area of Leeds will close on 5 June and will reopen later in the month after a £240,000 investment.

Shortly afterwards, the Alchemist on Manchester’s New York Street will close on 19 June and reopen on 30 June after a £180,000 refit.

Working with designer Macaulay Sinclair, who recently worked on the Alchemist venues in Liverpool and Birmingham, the operator has said that it plans to use the refit to bring out the copper-focussed décor seen in other Alchemist venues.

“The refurbishments will bring Trinity and New York Street in line with a warmer, more decadent and indulgent look and feel, in line with our recently opened venues,” Alchemist managing director Simon Potts said.

The operator recently took its estate to 10 sites after acquiring a new venue in Chester.
