Clocks change: you may be able to have an extra hour of trade on Sunday morning
Pubs may be able to trade for an extra hour on Saturday night/Sunday morning at 2am, as the clocks go back for the end of British Summer Time.

Publicans will therefore be able to make the most of an extra hour of trade on Saturday night, unless their licence says otherwise. However, if the licence for the evening ends before 2am then it will be business as usual.

Pubs should also be aware that:

  • Staff will need to be paid for an extra hour if they are working when the clocks change, and should be told of the change
  • Alarm and CCTV timers may need to be reset or adjusted
  • Other devices controlled by time, such as fridges or safes, may also need to be reset
  • Staff working on Sunday should be told of the clocks change so that they are sure to be on time the next day
