Pubs are gearing up to hold Donald Trump-inspired parties ahead of the president-elect’s imminent inauguration on Friday (20 January).

The Raglan Road Irish Bar in Canning Circus, Nottingham, which has artwork of Trump’s face in one of its urinals, is hosting a ‘presidential party’ on the night of the ceremony. "We’ve got a U2 tribute act," Jed Dowling, who has held the freehold of the pub for the past two years, told The Morning Advertiser.

"We’re going for stars and stripes, indoor fireworks, and we’re doing American burgers and wings. The [picture] on the toilet has been up for six months. It has brought people in from all over the world including Japan and America."

Food for thought

The Pen and Pencil on Hilton Street in Manchester’s Northern Quarter has created a Trump Tower Burger for customers looking to either "celebrate or commiserate" the day. Served on a maple syrup-soaked pancake served in a brioche bun, the £14.50 dish contains triple beef patty, smoked cheese rarebit, Monterey Jack cheese, sausage patty, battered pancetta, battered gherkins and comes with mustard, ketchup and pancetta-covered fries.

"Trump is obviously a hot topic on everyone’s lips right now, so we wanted to get in on the action with an over-the-top, in-your-face, too-much-to-manage feast, fit for this president," Dan Pollard, co-owner of the Pen and Pencil, said. "Whether you love him or hate him doesn’t matter, it’s just a delicious burger to mark the historic occasion."

Last October, the Blues Kitchen – which has London branches in Shoreditch, Camden and Brixton – launched a huge burger designed to resemble Trump ahead of the election on 8 November 2016.

The burger featured three beef patties, American orange cheese and a ‘toupee’ of crispy onion, and was accompanied by a wall of Mexican nachos and ‘Big Apple’ slaw.

'End of world' party

Brewdog has announced it will be celebrating ‘all that is good about the good ol' U.S. of A’ with ‘awesome craft beer’ and food specials designed just for the event

The announcement was made on its official website under the heading ‘End of World Party. Excited for the trump Inauguration? Neither are we.’

Listen for the words

Meanwhile, the Adelphi in Dublin, Ireland, which hit the headlines last August for decorating the gentleman’s urinals with a picture of the republican, is marking the swearing in of America’s 45th president by offering every customer a complimentary drink if he mentions "Mexico" or "The Wall".

"We feel we need to give people something to laugh at if/when he preaches hate like building a wall and deporting Mexicans because after all it is Friday – and January – and ain't nobody got time for that," a post on the venue’s official Facebook site said. "See y'all Friday."
