Moorhouse's makes David Grant MD

David Grant, currently general manager of Moorhouse's Brewery, has been appointed managing director as the company prepares for the next phase of growth.

Grant, 47, who joined the company just over two years ago, has seen sales increase by 25% and profits rise by 40%. He has overseen investment totalling more than £1m in the brew house, the distribution fleet, administrative offices and new corporate branding, while agreeing new supply deals with pub companies and launching a pubs acquisition programme.

He is also credited with raising the consumer profile of the brewery this year in a sponsorship deal with the Powergen World Rugby League Challenge Cup that delivered major television exposure.

Grant was operations manager with Mayfair Taverns before joining Moorhouse's. Chairman Bill Parkinson said: "Under David's direction the brewery has taken on a new lease of life, substantially gaining business and enjoying healthy profitability as well as winning more well-earned brewing awards.

"It is to recognise this that he has been appointed as managing director, which will strengthen his position to play a key role in the strategic development of the business at a time when competition in the cask-ale market is at its toughest ever."
