Nottingham's Best Bar None scheme starts accepting applications for 2013

Nottingham's Best Bar None scheme has started accepting applications for 2013.

The scheme has been run by the Nottingham British Improvement Districts (BID) since 2010 and accredits licensed premises that provide a safe and responsible venue for their customers.

David Lucas, director of the Nottingham BID, said: “Nottingham has some of the most diverse and vibrant night time offerings in the country. We are delighted that so many venues take the responsibility for the safety of their customers so seriously.

“Nottingham Best Bar None acknowledges licensed premises that demonstrate high standards of operation, helping to ensure that Nottingham city centre is a safe environment for the public to enjoy.”

Bars, pubs and clubs must meet nationally recognised operational standards to apply, including having regular security reviews, robust proof-of-age policies and effective capacity management systems.

Venues achieving accreditation will be announced at an awards ceremony in the spring.

Danny Williams, manager of the Pit and Pendulum, one of last year’s winners, said: “It was fantastic for the team to be recognised for all the effort they make to keep standards high in the bar. I would certainly recommend other venues take part as the scheme helps individuals to improve their own businesses and creates a better experience for people coming into the city centre for a night out.”
