Imbiba Partnership, the investment company behind Drake & Morgan and Hamilton & Bond, is launching a new concept called Ruth & Robinson to roll out seven new bars inspired by Brooklyn, New York, the Publican's Morning Advertiser's sister title M&C Report has learnt.

The new concept, which is the brainchild of Paul Garner, who led the Hawthorn & Hill concept, will open its first bar in London’s Clerkenwell in November. It is  likely to be called Colonie in homage to the bar group that inspired him.

Ruth & Robinson intends to raise £1.5m through the first round of Enterprise Investment Scheme fundraising before the end of October. The initial investment will be for the first two or three bars before looking to the next phase. The fund shares have been allocated already, and Garner said there is a great rate of return for subscribers.

The focus is London but cities such as Manchester, Cambridge or Brighton would be considered.

Garner said: “When I visited New York last year, I saw Colonie in Brooklyn Heights and thought it would be great to have this type of venue in London. The thing that I saw lots of in Brooklyn was a great food offering and atmosphere — but most of all the level of service
is impeccable.”
