New Zealand Pale Ale is the latest in the company’s World Beers series, limited edition cask beers and bottles inspired by beer styles around the world.
Brewed with pale ale and pale crystal malt and fermented at 20°C, which is relatively cool by brewing standards, 4% ABV Pale Ale uses Nelson Sauvin hops grown on New Zealand’s South Island.
Adnams omitted its own brewery yeast in favour of a neutral strain, which does not leave any flavour or aroma behind. This process allows the hop characters to shine through, the brewer claimed.
Adnams master brewer Fergus Fitzgerald said: “New Zealand Pale Ale is a crisp, dry blonde beer brewed with pale ale and pale crystal malted barley and hopped with Nelson Sauvin.
“New Zealand has been producing some fantastic hop varieties for many years but the aroma of Nelson Sauvin is truly unique in the hop world.”
Fitzgerald added: “This hop variety adds fantastic gooseberry flavours to the beer, similar to a Sauvignon Blanc.”
