Hop Stuff Brewery has announced the appointment of four new members of staff ahead of the move to its new £1.5m brewery later this month.

The Royal Arsenal-based brewery, which earlier this year raised £750,000 via crowdfunding, is moving this month. It is hoped beer production at the new 40-barrel site will start at the end of August.

Moving was a "really positive step" for the brewery, founder James Yeomans told The Morning Advertiser (MA).

Increased capacity

“We’re desperate for the extra capacity,” he said. “We’ve raised £750,000 on Crowdcube to go towards the expansion, and the bank is lending us the rest. It’s a done deal and we’re already recruiting hard for the expansion.”

The new site will enable the brewery to increase capacity to 15,000hl a year, according to Yeomans.

Among the brewery’s new hires are new sales director Matthew McAloone, off-trade sales manager Dom Hollinshead, brand and marketing manager Doug Gilbert and head brewer Andrew Dickson.

Former Meantime head brewer Dickson's appointment was originally announced by the brewery in January.

Seasonal brews

Hop Stuff now employs 30 members of staff, with Yeomans stating they would be “looking to go up to 50 or 60” by the end of 2017.

The brewery, which was founded in November 2013, recently announced its four core beers would be available in 330ml cans.

Yeomans told MA these brews would now be complemented by seasonal beers featuring artwork by local artists.

“We’re very involved in the local community,” he said. “We will be collaborating with a local artist on the pump clips and the imagery for each of our seasonal beers. They will sit alongside our core range.”

The brewery’s latest seasonal release, a Vienna lager, will be released next month.
