JJ Food Service has posted record profits of £12m for the year ending March 31 2015 – up 55% year-on-year – the majority of which would be pumped back into the company’s existing and new sites.

The family-owned firm, which supplies food from eight branches around the UK to pubs, cafes, coffee shops, restaurants and hotels, claimed its increasing ability to source high-quality products had contributed to its positive financial results.

Managing director Mustafa Kiamil said: “Our increase in profit is down to being able to source high-quality products from the UK and the rest of the world at competitive prices.

“We have also continued to increase efficiencies and achieve significant cost savings by investing in technology.”

More than £10m had been spent on two new branches, including a new site in Newcastle, which would open at the beginning of next year.

The second facility, in Dagenham, Essex, would open in the summer of 2016. The two news sites would bring JJ Food Service’s estate to 10 sites.

Kiamil added: “We are always on the lookout for new branches when suitable properties are available for acquisition.”

Investment in new technology and renewable energy would also continue in the coming months, with £500,000 set to be spent on solar panels at the firm’s Enfield and Sidcup branches.

Up 65% on the previous year

Last year the firm posted pre-tax profits of £7.5m for the same period, up 65% on the previous year.

In 2014 JJ Food Service announced it would target more high-end pubs and eateries to boost its profits further.

At the time, Kiamil said: “We are tripling our sales force over the next six months and training all our staff to cater for a broader customer base.

“This puts us in a strong position to grow our business while remaining focused on offering quality products and a first-class service.”
