New brew: Cobra launches new beer
Molson Coors has launched small-batch Blond IPA Malabar to its Cobra range of beers.

According to the beer giant, the new brew was created to help boost Cobra’s credentials as a beer to be enjoyed with food and fits with its ‘Brewed Smooth for All Food’ campaign.

The beer was launched following an initial trial at London Food Month in June this year and will be sold as a Cobra brand extension.

Malabar has a hoppy aroma and is light in colour with a deep and refreshing flavour and is being launched on draught in the on-trade.

Food pairing campaign

Cobra’s food pairing campaign launched earlier this year at London Food Month, where the brand hosted a 52,000 guests at its Cobra Flavour Rooms and Bar at the Night Market in Kensington Palace Gardens.

Molson Coors head of world beers Rob Hollis said: “Our first ever Cobra ale Malabar is brewed with ale yeast to make it as smooth and drinkable as our bottled lager.

“The Cobra brand is all about food and experimenting with different food and beer pairings. Malabar is the perfect addition to this portfolio and we are excited to begin an exclusive rollout with selected outlets.”

Of the Brewed Smooth campaign, Hollis said: “The premium world beers category is going from strength to strength in the UK, and demand for beers that pair well with food has never been higher.

“Cobra has long been known as a perfect match for spicy food but Maclean’s fusion menu will demonstrate just how versatile Cobra is as the perfect partner to a huge range of different cuisines from around the world.”
